    Former Italy coach, AC Milan player Cesare Maldini passes away

    Former AC Milan FC defender and Italy coach Cesare Maldini passed away. He was 84. He was known for commanding and respected defender with good technique and passing range. He was also known for his leadership, consistency, and tactical versatility, as well as his discipline and class, both on and off the pitch.   About Cesare Maldini   Born on 5 February 1932 in Trieste, Italy.   He had won four Serie A titles during his time with AC Milan FC and was skipper of the side in 1963, when it became the first Italian team to win the European Cup. During his career had seen in 412 appearances in all for AC Milan FC and had moved into coaching from 1972-74 after retiring from his playing career.   He was assistant coach to Enzo Bearzot for Italy’s 1982 World Cup triumph in Spain. He also had coached Paraguay for the 2002 World Cup but they did not progress beyond the Round of 16.   Source: The Hindu
